Mini Valentines Heart Pattern

Hello friends! It's Friday! That means that it's time for a new pattern!! As promised, today we get to learn how to make a very small crochet heart! This little heart is the perfect companion to many of the patterns that we've made together on the blog so far. I think this heart is also quite cute on many different plushes, or just on it's own. As a bonus, it really makes plushies perfect for Valentines Day or anniversaries! If you wanted, you could also just add a key ring to the heart and make it a super cute keychain or backpack charm!

All you'll need is a small amount of yarn an a little bit of time. So, let's jump into this week's pattern, shall we?

Materials:

  • 3.75mm crochet hook

  • Worsted weight yarn in the color of your choice

  • Fiber fill

  • Stitch markers

  • Yarn needle

  • Scissors

  • Embroidery thread

  • Pins

Abbreviations:

  • mr- magic ring

  • st- stitch

  • sc- single crochet

  • inc- increase

  • dec- decrease

  • ss- slip stitch




1st bump:

Round 1: mr 6 [6]

Round 2: (sc 1, inc)x3 [9]

Round 3: sc around [9]

FO, weave in end to make the next step a touch easier.



2nd bump:

Round 1: mr 6 [6]

Round 2: (sc 1, inc)x3 [9]

Round 3: sc around [9]

Round 4: Don't fasten off, instead, ss into round 3 in the first bump and then sc all the way around both pieces [18]


*As you continue, I recommend stuffing as you go along, so you don't have to try and stuff it at the very end*


Round 5: sc 4, dec 1, sc 7, dec 1, sc 3 [16]

Round 6: sc 3, dec 1, sc 6, dec 1, sc 3 [14]

Round 7: sc 3, dec 1, sc 4, dec 1, sc 3 [12]

Round 8: sc 3, dec 1, sc 3, dec 1, sc 2 [10]

Round 9: sc 3, dec 1, sc 2, dec 1, sc 1 [8]

Round 10: sc 2, dec 1, sc 2, dec 1 [6]

FO and weave in ends, or leave a tail for sewing if you'd like to attach the heart to another plushie.


When you're done, your heart may look a little misshapen, like this one below, but don't worry! All you have to do is squish and massage it into shape and it should look just right.(:
